Donna is a busy professional, wife, and mother to four adult children. 

She was simply looking for nutrition advice and what she needed to eat to get healthy. 

So she joined the Fit Mother Project because she was looking for good diet tips. 

But what she ended up finding was a deep and profound transformation! 

Donna soon realized that it’s not about a ‘diet’ — it’s a lifestyle. 

It’s become so much deeper for her, and she’s been able to make improvements for herself, her family, and their future. 

Most importantly, she shed so much mental baggage and years of dealing with an all-or-nothing mindset and endless yo-yo diets. 

She not only found a sustainable system, but she also found true life alignment — with her mind, body, and soul!

The Search For Sustainability

Donna was struggling to maintain her weight, and she knew her eating habits needed to change.

“I could never figure out how to maintain a good weight. Cooking was also an issue for me as I never knew what to make and shop for. The only things I knew how to make were things that I knew I should not be eating anymore.”

She wanted to make healthier choices but didn't know where to start.

She had tried several diets and fitness programs, but nothing proved to be sustainable for her. 

“I have followed so many different weight loss programs. I did Whole 30, Weight Watchers; you name it. I did all of them. Some of them worked for me a little, but I could never maintain what I had lost.”

Donna started browsing the Internet, searching for a fitness program with a nutrition component, and came across the Fit Mother Project. 

What she loved the most about the program was the fact that it did not recommend super fancy food items that were scarcely available or hard to cook. 

She signed up for the program and dove into the exercise plan despite wanting just a nutrition plan.

“I realized I needed all the pieces together at the same time in a coordinated construct.”

Donna always believed that people get fitter by going to the gym every day and having a trainer.

Nevertheless, after joining the Fit Mother Project, she realized that fitness depends more on eating healthy and exercising, whether in a gym or at home.

Finding Life Alignment

Donna followed the Fit Mother Project plans religiously, and positive changes followed. 

“I have a lot of energy now for getting things done. My body has changed a lot. I'm down a size in clothes, and it goes beyond how I look. I'm a sturdier, stronger person. My posture is different than it used to be because of the strengthening of my core, shoulders, and back muscles. They make me walk differently and feel differently.”

Looking good led to feeling good, and so much more.

“I think people perceive me differently because of all the changes in how I carry myself, which make me act differently.”

Donna's mind and soul grew as well. 

“I used to have an all-or-nothing mindset. I always focused on the success point and was never happy with what I had. I always wanted something to be a certain way but forgot to be thankful for all the progress that I had made. But with Fit Mother, I realized that it is about progress, not perfection. It taught me about the horizon effect, which is always to look back as you walk toward the horizon, your goals.”

What is the horizon effect?

“The horizon effect is if you're on the sand walking toward the horizon, you're always trying to get to it. However, you never actually get to it, as the horizon is always getting farther. So you have to remember that even though you have this visualization of a goal you're striving for, you must remember to look back to see where you came from.”

Donna also talks about the spiritual benefits she derived from the program. 

“I learned about adaptation to my surroundings and challenges. I told myself that I would always have distractions in my life, but I'm learning how to adapt to them. So now I just want to focus on whatever's good in the disruption.”

She also drew a lot of strength from the Fit Mother Project Facebook group.

“The Facebook group is amazing. I have met some amazing people. Just being able to have that trust and have a group to talk about these things is great. It's full of encouragement and love, and it's a community that is a safe space and gives good feedback.”

So what would Donna say to someone looking to join the Fit Mother Project?

“Stick to the program wholly. You'll deviate a lot, but the deviations do not define your progress. If you do have hope that things will change, then you can just keep progressing forward even through your mistakes. Embrace the fact that mistakes are going to happen and tell yourself that it is OK. You'll move forward, and it will change for the better if you put in the work. So hold on to hope in the process.”
