Mind before matter is all about making fitness work for you and adjusting your lifestyle as you age.
That’s one of the many lessons Fit Mother Pollie learned on her health and fitness journey.
Pollie is a wife, mother, and teacher who found herself not where she wanted to be health-wise.
For years, Pollie was very into exercising and fitness.
But as she got older, she found that she wasn't recovering from exercise as well as she used to.
Plus, she was gaining weight, and the number on the scale was just stressing her out.
Pollie decided she needed to do something different and find better ways to make fitness work for her.
She was looking for a program that answered all of her questions about nutrition, strength, training, cardio, and how everything would fit together specifically for her.
She wanted a program she could actually follow, one that was simple, sustainable, and holistic.
So, she found the Fit Mother Project, invested in it and herself, and transformed her life!
Now, she’s stronger and more energetic, her mind is more balanced, and she’s the best version of herself for her daughters, her husband, and the kids she teaches.

Losing Control of Life
Pollie always loved fitness.
She was conscious about her weight and physique, and always wanted to keep looking good.
“I’ve been very careful about my weight since I was young. My mom had me join Weight Watchers, and I was successful with that for the time being.”
According to her, she was always able to maintain her weight with the help of intense workouts.
When she turned 40, Pollie thought that her days of looking good on the beach were waning, so she decided to get serious and threw herself into exercise.
“I wanted to take my nutrition and exercise seriously. I am really into exercise, and I love it. I would go to my gym four or five days a week to do high-intensity classes like kickboxing, boot camp, etc. They’re so grueling, and I loved them. So I thrived on them.”
Pollie also ran half marathons and races because she wanted to be a role model for her girls.
However, things changed for Pollie as she entered her late 40s.
“I could no longer do one of those intense classes or complete a fast run and then feel good the next day. It took me a lot longer to recover, and I started doing them less and less because of my recovery time. I guess as you get older, it gets harder to recover. So I was bumping into the idea in my 50s where I thought I couldn’t control my appearance based on my fitness alone.”
Pollie’s weight was consistently increasing.
She started to panic, thinking about how she would look on the beach or feel confident in her body.
Two weeks after an appendix surgery, Pollie’s weight started rising to the point where she was the heaviest she had ever been.

Mind Before Matter
Once Pollie decided she needed to do something different, she began searching.
Once she found the Fit Mother Project, she knew she found what she was looking for.
“I was looking for something like the Fit Mother Project all my life. All my questions were being answered as I read the materials.”
She found workouts that worked for her, and a nutrition plan that wasn't too restricting.
“I loved how the program explained each move so professionally and executed them so well and told me how not to hurt myself in each move. It was so sound and full of science. Also, the fact that the program included bread because I love bread! It makes me feel good.”
Pollie also had profound mental health shifts while on her journey with the Fit Mother Project.
“I’m very organized now. I’m streamlined. I’m not constantly questioning what I am doing or eating. This chaos took up half my brain. One of my favorite tips was meditating for five minutes before leaving for work. Doing so put me in a calm place, and helped me react professionally and appropriately. The program is healing my mindset and making me the positive person I always wanted to be.”
The benefits didn't stop there!
“Six months into this program, I was thriving and had gotten down to my lowest weight, even lower than my wedding weight. Also, my form is so much better. I’ve grown stronger on my upper back and glutes. My overall strength has improved. Mentally, this program has taught me patience by trusting the process and being patient with it. It has also taught me consistency and how to stick with the process.”
Not only that, Pollie has grown spiritually.
“In the spiritual aspect, I’d say that this program has quieted my mind and its chatter of being unsure of what to do. So now I am at a point where I can be in the present moment with my thoughts. Finally, it has made me grateful for what I have in life.”
So what would Pollie say to someone looking to join the Fit Mother Project?
“To anybody who’s not in this program, you are missing out. Join it and stick with it because it has all the answers. You may not take everything you know at the beginning. But you will do so along the way as you keep practicing them. So start integrating more and more things about this program into your life. And it’s just incredible. It’s very spiritual.”
3 Key Takeaways From Pollie's Journey
To summarize, here are three key lessons you can learn from Pollie’s successful health and fitness journey:
Lesson 1: Record and Monitor Your Journey
Pollie regularly recorded her workouts to monitor her performance and make the right adjustments.
Recorded workout videos can help you track areas that can be improved.
Over time, you can also notice the improvements you have made
Lesson 2: Meditation Is Powerful
Pollie saw a change in her headspace as she started following the Fit Mother Project’s advice of meditating for five minutes every day before leaving for work.
It calmed her so that work stress couldn’t get the better of her.
Thus, incorporating this small change in life can propel you toward better life choices.
Lesson 3: Know and Accept Your Limits
Pollie once got injured because she was pushing herself a little too much.
The injury taught her to slow down.
Know your limits and understand that you cannot derive all the benefits of exercising in one sitting.
Fitness is a process demanding patience.
A little goes a long way.
